How to Change the Membrane on Platinum Pure Reverse Osmosis (RO) System

Today we will be going over the steps on how to change the Membrane Filter on your Platinum Pure Reverse Osmosis system.

Prepare your area by placing towels or paper towels beneath your system to catch any remaining water.

Please note that if you are changing your Standard and Plus filters as well, you must start with the Membrane before installing the Standard and Plus filters.

The first step is to shut off the water supply to your system. Locate the shut off valve for your feed and tank, and turn both valves off.

Next, release the pressure in your system by opening the spigot and letting it drip. Once the dripping has stopped, close the spigot.

Now you'll remove the old membrane.

First, unscrew the membrane by turning it 90 degrees until the filter will not turn any further, then pull down. Then, you must remove the drain line attached to the filter. To do that, push the small collet in while pulling the line out simultaneously. Remember to keep the flow restrictor in the drain line.

Now it is time to install the new membrane.

First, remove the dust cap and insert the drain line into the new filter.

Then, Line up the 2 inserts on the top of the membrane to the corresponding ports on the membrane housing, and push upwards until you feel the filter set in the housing fully.

After the membrane is installed properly, open the spigot.

Now it is time to begin the flushing procedure.

With the spigot open and the new membrane installed, turn the feed back on. Once there is a thin drizzle from the spigot, turn the spigot back off and wait 10 minutes, checking thoroughly for any leaks.

If no leaks have been detected after 10 minutes under pressure, open the spigot and complete the final flushing procedure.

Let the system run for 10 minutes with the spigot open, the tank closed, and the feed valve on in order to flush the new filter.

After 10 minutes, close the spigot and open the tank, then check the cabinet again for any excess moisture.

If no moisture is found, your Platinum Pure Reverse Osmosis system is ready to use!
